Please pardon my fall sentimentality. As the evenings creep up into what was afternoon, shortening days, and more skeletal branches reach up to the sky, bereft of leaves, it seems like winter is settling in. Autumn’s remaining colors are mostly underfoot and now comes a more austere beauty, one that is not so easily seen or picked up on an after-work walk. These mementos (pressed inside the cover of my journal) make me smile, even as they spill out when I open the journal forgetting that they are there. They remind me of a fall of crisp (not chill) air, and surprisingly bright and varied colors following a summer of little rain. Of a difficult but beautiful fall, interspersed with walks with friends and time with family.
