Cañas y Barro

5-albufera2

The title refers to the name of a book written by Valencia’s celebrated novelist, Blasco Ibañez, and which takes place in the Albufera region of Valencia.   The Albufera is actually a part of the sea which was trapped inland a long time ago.  Historically, those who lived in the region fished for a living, and lived in traditional houses called barracas.  When we went yesterday with one of my cousins, we were able to take a boat tour of the Albufera and a barraca that was nearby.
