During lunch at La Abadia, over tapas, Jason propounded his theory that the best way to explore a place like Toledo was to just get lost and ramble about.  And so that’s what we did through the afternoon: up and down tight, inclined, streets; popping out into sudden plazas; clambering down to a hiking trail along the river; and eventually making our way to several gates that marked the boundaries of the old city.  (For a larger view of the photos, click on the images to open a gallery.)
