house light & mist

Fragile, ragged sheets of ice floated down the river, joining together on the surface of the water like leaves do in the fall. A thin, whispering noise drifted in the air.  It took some time for me to realize that this was the sound of ice scraping on ice as the “floes” moved past each other or brushed against the frozen extension of the shoreline.
